You may remember Sarah and Maciej from their engagement session in Grand Haven. They were the perfect couple to kick off our busy “summer wedding” schedule that first weekend in June. Because of all the busy pandemic re-schedules, Courtney and I have had to split up a few times and work with other people. So Serena and I (hi! It’s Megan!) headed out to Flushing, Michigan, for a hot June day at Sarah’s family property. 

This wedding was the true epitome of whimsy garden wedding. That’s why I titled it whimsical wedding, and I’m not quite sure if that’s her official theme or not, but it’s definitely the vibe that I got. The property was full of unique and individual touches, from the gardens to the woods, and even the alter. The florals had ferns and beautiful greenery. They both wore crowns (which we’re totally all here for- they looked amazing.) The details were just….*chef’s kiss* you know? You’ll see that in photos.

You’ll probably also tell from this preview how adorable the two of them are. Maciej owns a meadery/brewery in Grand Rapids. He handmade and distilled a special batch of wedding mead for the event. They two of them love craft beer, mead, and their gaggle of adopted cats at home. It’s adorable. They also love each other so much. They were so laid back about it all; they exchanged private vows to each other after their first look. Nothing was prepared or formal. No one heard it except for the two of them (we promise! We used super long zoom lenses and they had their special time.) Their wedding featured a poem that Maciej’s brother wrote (and even had some great humor in it) along with a handfasting ceremony. They did their dances with their parents together, and then celebrated with family. It was all low-key, and it perfectly fit them and their relationship and bond.
