We got to know both Kayla and Steve last year when we photographed Steve’s brother’s wedding. Their wedding party was so much fun and we really enjoyed the connections made and rekindled, since Courtney remembers both of them from high school days. We loved hanging out with Kayla and Steve doing their St. Clair Inn wedding photography last weekend, and seeing lots of familiar faces along the way, again too.

Megan and Erica tackled this fun wedding that was full of laughter, jokes, and love. Kayla and Steve have two kids and have been together for 10+ years. They first met when she was waitressing at Ted’s Coney Island, and (apparently) Steve would make it a point to roll up to Ted’s on his motorcycle to try to get the attention of “the hot blonde with the great ass.” (as his brother told this story during his best man speech.) Their kids were in the wedding as junior bridesmaid/groomsmen, and Kayla’s grandparents were her flower girl/ ring bearer- we loved that part. She has a special connection with them and requested lots of photos with and of them- which we were happy to oblige.

Shooting semi-local at the St. Clair Inn was good, and it’s nice to have everything located in one central place and never run out of options for variety, from architecture to the river walk and boardwalk views. We also had a wonderful time hanging out again with Lee from Ultimate Sounds. Ultimate Sounds is our favorite Port Huron DJ to work with because they are all so great, and we haven’t seen Lee super recently so it was fun to see how he runs the party, and gets the dance floor poppin’.
