We sat on Karissa and Nick’s blog post for almost two whole weeks, which is like torture for us because we thrive in instant gratification. With that said, our 2024 wedding season officially kicked off earlier this June when we were thrilled to be Karissa and Nick’s Solitude Links photographer for their golf-themed wedding.

We waited so long because the two of them went on an epic 10+ day long honeymoon, and we didn’t want to drop their previews when they didn’t have WiFi access. Karissa and Nick have an adorable story that you may remember from their Lakeport beach engagement photography session blog from last summer. If not, the TLDR version is that the two of them met on the very first night of college, on move-in day, at Oakland University. It was a big day for Nick actually, because he also met his roommate turned best man that night too- talk about a steep best friend competition right from the jump, huh? The two of them love their families, spending quality time with their family and friends doing activities like boating, and they also love golfing together. Out of all our years photographing at Solitude Links and being on the golf course weekly, ironically, this was our very first wedding where the couple leaned in fully and actually had a golf theme. It was fun to see those details come together.

It was also amazing to see so many people from the Metro Detroit area come on over to the Port Huron area to enjoy this beautiful “hidden gem” wedding venue in St. Clair County. The weather was absolutely stunning, and we all really lucked out and beat the heat wave by one day. We love exploring the course in the evening, and they even gifted them a Solitude Links flag that they can always remember their wedding location together, and subsequently visit often for future anniversaries and special occasions.
