Packard Proving Grounds Wedding Photographer | Hanna & Joe
We first met Hanna and Joe back in 2020 at their engagement session in downtown Detroit. We spent the evening exploring the area, getting to know each other better, and hearing about their upcoming 2022 wedding that they were planning for. Like any longer engagement time frame, we were so excited when they day finally came, and also elated at the fact that we were finally shooting at a quintessential and historical Metro Detroit wedding venue locations and being their Packard Proving Grounds Wedding Photographer.
It’s almost crazy to think that Mulberry & Sage Photography has been a Detroit wedding photographer for nearly 6 years now, and we’ve never had a wedding at the Packard Proving Grounds. It’s such a beautiful and historic location, and we loved hearing all about it’s history. It was created in the 1920’s as a rigorous “rural” testing facility for the Packard car company. They needed a rural track to test their automobiles, and Shelby Township fit that bill. (Which in and of itself is crazy to us country girls, because Macomb has always been our “city” where we commute to do things like shop and eat at Chipotle.) The brick and mortar facilities at Packard Proving Grounds are still original and completely intact with the construction and design typical of that era. And there’s an antique car museum that made for a great photo location, too.
Hanna and Joe’s ceremony was short and sweet, and heartfelt with their son’s joy and excitement really being a spotlight- that’s one of our favorite highlights of the day is his jumping and claps during their first kiss as husband and wife. Their reception was so much fun and the reception hall was beautiful with the hanging Edison bulbs, antique cars, and old-school decor charm. And Hanna’s dress was probably a favorite- it looked so Gatsby-chic and was stunning.
We’d love to return and be a Packard Proving Grounds Wedding Photographer team again. If you’re getting married in 2023, we’d love to connect.
