We recently had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Courtney and Nate in Marquette, Michigan. The couple met while attending Northern Michigan University, and they wanted to get married in the city where they had first fallen in love. We traveled up state from the lower part of Michigan and had a great time being their Marquette Wedding photographer team for the day.

We started the day at the university, where Courtney was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The room was full of her hype-squad bridesmaids, and we loved the energy while getting ready, along with the great music. After getting ready, we headed to the outdoor pavilion for the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful and intimate. We loved the smudging ceremony that Nate’s family performed for them. The drumming and singing together as a family was a unique & creative element that really gave the ceremony special a personal touch.

After the ceremony, we took the couple and their wedding party to Presque Isle Park for some photos. The park is located on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Superior, and it offers stunning views of the lake and the city. We took advantage of the beautiful scenery and very politely navigated the busy landmarks while still being able to capture some stunning images in front of the ore docks.

We also took the couple to Black Rocks Park for some photos. This park is located on a cliff overlooking the lake, and it offers some even more spectacular views. We had a great time exploring the park and everyone there was so nice to clear off the “picture spots” for the happy couple. (We’re quick, too!)

The wedding day was a whirlwind of activity, and we loved exploring new areas outside our comfort zone and zip code. We are so grateful that Courtney and Nate chose us to be their Marquette wedding photographers, and are already planning more vacations up there with our families because it’s so stunning. Our goal is to offer a couple destination wedding photography packages every year, and this year’s will be hard to top.
