We first met Kayla when she was about 14 hours old. You see, she’s my(Megan’s) cousin and has had a special place in my heart for a long time now. I watched Kayla grow up by babysitting her quite often as a baby and toddler, and then moved to California around the time she started elementary school. When I moved back to Michigan in 2016, Kayla was in high school and that’s when I got to know her the most, as a young adult and human- outside of baby bottles and diaper changes. It wasn’t long after that that I also met Tyler, because the two of them met while they were both in high school and have maintained a healthy and happy relationship while they both attended Michigan State for college. When Tyler proposed and they started planning their wedding, she reached out and I told her all about a brand new (old) barn that was being renovated to become a new wedding venue in the Port Huron area. She excitedly set up a call and booked it, and I was thrilled when she approached me to be their Impression Farms Wedding Photography team for their Oct. 2022 wedding.

What made it even more special (aside from it being a hybrid day where I get to be a guest and a family member) is that I also got to photograph alongside our other cousin who’s a wedding photographer in Indianapolis as well. (If you’re in the area, I cannot recommend Kristen Bowen Photography more- she’s personable, and sweet, and knocks it out of the park with skill, too. Must be a family thing, eh?) Kristen was my partner in crime that day, and it’s great to work with her again (I’ve second shot for a couple of her Michigan weddings before) and also enjoyed having my own husband and family in attendance as guests, too. It saved me from eating alone. ha!

Impression Farms was beautiful- the new renovated barn was large and the getting ready suite was great too- with updated restrooms that really made it feel like a luxury experience but also rustic. It was a peak fall day, with gorgeous weather and foliage. We loved being their Impression Farms wedding photography team and are already excited to return for a couple more weddings that we have booked there in 2023 too. We have some select dates open for 2023, so if you’re engaged and need a photography team, we’d love to get in touch.
