Black River Country Club Wedding Photography | Nicole & Matt
Nicole and Matt sat down to chat with us what felt like a really long time ago, and they’ve been planning their wedding date for over a year and a half at this point. Finally, on Saturday October 16th, 2021, we were able to meet up with them on a beautiful (kind of chilly- in a good way) autumn afternoon for their Black River Country Club Wedding Photography.
Nicole and Matt were supposed to get married back in October of 2020, but then the world kind of shut down in 2020 and they ended up moving their date to Oct. 2021, at one of our favorite Port Huron locations, the Black River Country Club. We love shooting at the country club here because of it’s history; it was founded in the 1920’s and much of the inside decor feels very masculine and sophisticated, and the course itself is stunning. The trees are all massive and mature, and full of life and history and charm. As we were all driving around, we kept saying “oh that’s a pretty spot” over and over again. And that’s completely true, there isn’t a spot anywhere that wouldn’t make a great backdrop for photos. For most of the day it was pretty cloudy too- which is awesome for those mid-day wedding party portraits that may otherwise be really tricky in full bright sun.
Their timeline was great, we had a first look around 3pm, and their ceremony was at 4:30. We were able to get their wedding party and couple portraits completely finished before the ceremony even started. That way after the ceremony can focus on family, and then (the most important part) relaxing and celebrating with family and friends. While we recognize that we all want beautiful photos, sometimes taking a step back and documenting the love and fun happening is the best route, rather than monopolize the couple and spend all day doing photos.
We hope you enjoy this preview into Nicole and Matt’s Black River Country Club Wedding Photography session. If you’re getting married in 2022, we’d love to connect.
