We started off our 9th year photographing weddings together on January 4th of 2025. We loved experiencing and documenting a January wedding, and we are so grateful that Jess and Dan contacted us to do their The Abbey on Main wedding photography.

Jess and Dan met through Dan’s job when we went calling on her home. Since then, the two of them have blended their families and fit into each other’s lives seamlessly. Their 4 kids get along perfectly together, and really bring out the very best, and the love within the new family unit of 6 was so obvious for everyone in attendance.

We got to visit a (new to us) venue in Romeo, Michigan. We’ve found ourselves going to Romeo more often lately, and we love the small-town feel of their downtown, while also being within Metro-Detroit. The area still was decorated for the holiday season, and it was so cute and picturesque. The Abbey on Main was originally built in 1874. They’ve done quite a bit of work to transform this church building into not only an operational church congregation on Sundays, but also a beautiful wedding venue. The ceremony room had stunning exposed brick and old wood details that was obvious that lots of thought and consideration was put into revamping. The reception was held in what used to be the larger sanctuary. The choir loft/balcony with the stained windows behind made for some fun photos that Jess and Dan really wanted to utilize. Even the getting ready rooms were designed with photos and aesthetics top of mind- you’ll see lots of photos in the bridal suite because their smaller wedding didn’t begin until after the sun went down.

Jess and Dan’s wedding was beautiful and intimate. We only were there for 4 hours because their wedding was smaller and they wanted photos for the main points of their day only- they were fully dressed and ready to roll with photos and their first look when we got there at 4pm! Their first look was so fun and they were both so excited to see each other.
