This last weekend we were back at the DoubleTree by Hilton with Ivy and Cody being their Port Huron Wedding Photographers for the day. The two of them got married on a sunny autumn Friday, and while it was very on-brand for a Michigan October day, the wind was off the charts. 

There were some unforgettable moments brought to you courtesy of their blustery wedding day, such as the moment she stepped outside to walk down the aisle, Ivy’s veil went flying away like a sail in the wind. Speaking of sails, there was a wind surfer doing tricks in the river (in a wetsuit, mind you) and that was kind of cool to see (and edit out of the background in some photos- she says, sarcastically.) Their beautiful archway for the wedding was draped in long velvet fabric, and the wind was picking it up and enveloping both the best man and the ring bearer during the ceremony. They were both champs and kept a straight face for the most part- even while being whipped in the face with cloth.

After the sweet ceremony, we walked around and did some photos by the train and museum to use largescale landmarks to block the gusting wind. Once they did their entrance into the reception, the speeches began and two of Ivy’s bridesmaids coreographed a dance to perform for Ivy compiled of some of her favorite songs and memories. From there, one of the groomsmen was asked by the couple to perform some standup comedy, as he’s a budding comedian, during the dinner hour. Their reception was full of additions such as the shoe-game where the couples have to correctly match personality traits about each other and signify it by holding up that person’s shoes. Their autumn themed decor was so pretty, with the leaves and pumpkins on the tables. The two of them met while attending a field trip for an SC4 class, and their love and personalities were cute and natural around each other.
