Stephenie and Rob had an ultra-eventful wedding day, and we were thrilled to tag along and capture their Port Huron lighthouse wedding on June 24th, 2021. Their day began with some ominous weather reports; there was a 90% chance of rain all day long, but the weather held off the entire time of their outdoor ceremony and also their portrait time. It wasn’t until the very tail end that it started raining, an we hopped in the cars to drive up to their reception, and that’s when the sky opened up. 

Their Port Huron lighthouse wedding was beautiful. We love being local Port Huron wedding photographers, and looking at our pretty little city from a unique angle. It isn’t very often that we get to play “tourist” in our own city, and we love the adventure and experiences that photographing weddings brings us. Even if that journey involves conquering a pretty severe fear of heights and small spaces. (Edited to add: for beautiful photos, we suck it up. It was 100% worth the minor terror involved.) Fun fact: did you know that the Fort Gratiot lighthouse in Port Huron is Michigan’s oldest and first lighthouse? It was built in 1814, and she’s still standing proud.

Their day was arguably the hottest day of the year, so far. All of our equipment and lenses were fogging up because it was just THAT humid outside. You could practically cut it with a knife. But they were troopers, and the weather on the top of the lighthouse made up for it all; we love the movement of her hair blowing and how it translates to photos. Their reception was in a tent outside their Lexington cottage. As we drove up there, it started pouring rain. The tornado sirens were going off like crazy, and it was a true midwestern day of unexpected and crazy weather. It was truly a day to remember, and their intimate wedding was so much fun to witness and capture.
