Gabi and Derek were a last minute addition for Mulberry & Sage this year and we’re so thrilled that we were able to step in and be their Holly Venue One Eleven Wedding Photographer team. Their wedding was at Venue One Eleven, which is a newer venue in the Holly Michigan area and part of the Holly Vault Collection. 

It’s actually the largest venue for the Holly Vault Collection. It’s an old schoolhouse that has been beautifully restored and flipped into a stunning and modern wedding, with all the old school charm original to the time period that it was built in. It was originally built in 1913, and we were constantly walking around in wonder at how it morphed into such a beautiful venue for weddings. The outdoors courtyard area has been transformed with a beautiful tented area, and the roses right outside of the tent were where some of our favorite photos were taken. The venue was amazing, but Gabi and Derek’s love on display was the sweetest thing to watch. Everyone was in tears, and you could tell that their family cherished them, and it was almost like their parents were best friends, too. Their bridal party was all so much fun, and we had a blast getting to see them interact with their family so sweetly, and with their friends so genuinely.

Courtney was out of town for the weekend, so I was able to reach out to our network of people we shoot with regularly, and Ami from Ami Williams Photography was a doll and stepped up we got to hang out and photograph this together. Fun fact, Ami was actually one of the first photographers I shot weddings with, so it was kind of a blast from the past and fun to reconnect and hang out while “working” and creating art together. I cannot begin to say how grateful I am to be actively involved with the Metro Detroit wedding photography facebook group, or begin to count how many valued friends it’s brought us over the years.
